Irritable Bowel Syndrome

by admin on July 30, 2010

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a chronic bowel disorder that affects the lower intestinal tract.  It is characterized by abdominal pain or discomfort, and abnormal bowel movements.  IBS can cause diarrhea or constipation, and sometimes both.  In addition to diarrhea and constipation, IBS can also cause bloating, gas, cramping, and abdominal pain.

IBS is very common.  As many as 1 in 5 American adults suffer from IBS.  Many people only show mild symptoms of IBS, however for many the condition can be disabling.  Because the symptoms of IBS can occur with other diseases, you should discuss your symptoms with a doctor.

IBS is a chronic condition but can be managed by controlling what is causing your symptoms.  You should keep a journal in order to track what could be triggering your IBS.  For some people, IBS is triggered by certain foods.  Keeping a food diary is very helpful to know if something you eat could be triggering your symptoms.  IBS can also be triggered by stress, hormones, or other illnesses.

Some people find that their IBS has improved by using Bowtrol Colon Control, a product specifically made for sensitive digestion problems.  To learn more about Bowtrol Colon Control, click here.
